If I Were Told the Future - Test 10

The Commandments of God

In order to check your understanding and your progress in the study of the Word of God, we invite you to fill out this short test and return it to us. The correct answers will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

A mark of 70% or better will allow you to submit the test of Lesson 11. Upon the completion of the entire Bible course If I Were Told the Future, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

If I Were Told the Future: Test for Lesson 10

  1. After the faith of Jesus, we need a second tool to understand Bible prophecy. The book of Lamentations tells us what is this tool: «The is no more; her prophets also find no from the Lord.» And the book of Proverbs adds, «Where there is no , the people perish. But he that keeps the , happy is he.» The understanding of Bible prophecy is therefore closely linked to obedience to God’s commandments.

  2. From the very beginning of the Bible, we see God giving these instructions to man, «Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of and , you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely The aim of these laws was not to oppress man, but rather to show him the only way to happiness.

  3. The Ten Commandments are of such a great importance in the eyes of God that the book of Exodus specifies the following point: «And the tables were the of God, and the writing was the of God, graven on the tables.» This is some important food for thought...

  4. The first four Commandments summarize our duty towards God, and the last six, our duty towards our neighbor. The First Epistle of John summarizes that point, by saying that «this is the love of God, that we...»
«... teach that His commandments have been abolished.»
«... may replace His commandments by the tradition of men.»
«... teach that His commandments are for the Jews only.»
    «... keep His commandments.»

  5. To those who would like to adapt the text of God’s Ten Commandments to the customs of society, the book of Deuteronomy answers, «You shall not to the word which I command you, neither shall you ought from it, that you may the commandments of the Lord your God which I you.»

  6. God and His Law possess the same qualities: the Ten Commandments of God thus perfectly reflect the character of the Creator. Among the following characteristics, please check off all those that belong to both God and His Law:
    Purity, goodness, immutability.
    Righteousness, faithfulness, wonder.
    Truth, holiness, perfection.
    Eternity, love, greatness.

  7. Quoting the Epistle of Paul to the Romans which says, «You are not under the law, but under grace,» some people claim that Christians can live as if there were no more law. However, they forget to read the rest of this same passage which says, «What then? Shall we , because we are not under the law, but under grace? God Indeed, sin is the transgression of the law, and the apostle Paul declares that we should not sin, even if we are under grace... and especially since we are under grace!

  8. To illustrate the precise role of law and faith in the life of each believer, the apostle Paul asks the following question, in his Epistle to the Romans, «Do we then make void the law through faith?» And how does he answer his own question?
«God forbid! Yes, we establish the law.»
«Yes, for Christ has abolished the law.»
«Yes, for faith is greater than the law.»
«Yes, because the law has been given only to the Jews.»

  9. In the book of the prophet Ezekiel, God gives us this wonderful promise: «I will put My within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall My judgments, and do them.» And, in his Epistle to the Romans, the apostle Paul leans on this promise and declares, «For I delight in the of God after the man.»

  10. The book of Ecclesiastes ended our lesson with the following advice, «Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty...»
    «... of man.»
«... of him who is under the Old Covenant.»
    «... of the Jew.»
«... of him who does not have a Savior.»
