If I Were Told the Future - Test 56

The 24 Elders and the Four Beasts

In order to check your understanding and your progress in the study of the Word of God, we invite you to fill out this short test and return it to us. The correct answers will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

A mark of 70% or better will allow you to submit the test of Lesson 57. Upon the completion of the entire Bible course If I Were Told the Future, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

If I Were Told the Future: Test for Lesson 56

  1. In the Word of God, the picture of an old man is used to call to mind the following elements (check off all the right answers):
    Wisdom.
    Insanity.
    Experience.
    Sound advice.

  2. The 24 elders of Revelation show all the following features, except one. Which one?
Their feet are like fine brass.
    They are sitting on thrones.
They are clothed in white raiment.
They have crowns of gold on their heads.

  3. The three elements describing the 24 elders of Revelation also appear in the letters to the seven churches, also found in the book of Revelation. This helps us to identify the 24 elders, since in the letters to the seven churches, these three elements...
    ... refer to God’s enemies.
    ... refer to God’s angels.
... are promised by Jesus to him who overcomes.
... are announced as a punishment over the rebellious nations.

  4. The Gospel according to Matthew tells us that, at the moment of Jesus’ death, many saints rose from the dead. Now, according to the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians, what happened to these saints afterwards?
They died a few days later, from natural causes.
They took part in the Church’s work of evangelization.
They were put to death by the Church’s opponents.
They were taken to heaven with Jesus, at His ascension.

  5. In the book of Revelation, the 24 elders are shown sitting on thrones. The second part of the 24 elders is made up of the twelve apostles, representing God’s people under the New Covenant. Jesus Himself confirms this in the Gospel according to Matthew, by making the following promise to the apostles, «You which have followed Me, (...) you also shall sit on thrones, judging the tribes of Israel.»

  6. The number 12, recalled by the 24 elders of Revelation, is used in Bible prophecy to symbolize...
    ... signs of the zodiac.
    ... a lot of people.
... the twelve months of the year.
... the alliance between God and men.

  7. In the book of Revelation, the scene presenting the 24 elders contains another element symbolizing the alliance between God and men. What is it?
    A rainbow.
    A red horse.
    A great scythe.
    A star fallen from heaven.

  8. According to the book of Revelation, what are the 24 elders doing, at the present time? (Check off all the right answers.)
They assist Jesus in His work of judgment.
They participate in the worship service taking place in heaven.
They assist Jesus in His work of intercession.
They replace Jesus as mediators between God and men.

  9. The appearance of the four beasts of Revelation is similar to the following beings, except one. Which one?
    A lion.
    A calf.
    A bear.
    A man.

  10. Just like the 24 elders, the four beasts of Revelation are closely linked to Jesus Christ, and their appearance even reflects many traits of character belonging to Jesus. What are these traits of character? (Check off all the right answers.)
    His majesty, power, and dominion.
His humanity, which enables Him to understand our weaknesses.
His patience, in the midst of trial and suffering.
His insight, which enables Him to judge each one of us.
