If I Were Told the Future - Test 77

The Fall of Babylon

In order to check your understanding and your progress in the study of the Word of God, we invite you to fill out this short test and return it to us. The correct answers will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

A mark of 70% or better will allow you to submit the test of Lesson 78. Upon the completion of the entire Bible course If I Were Told the Future, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

If I Were Told the Future: Test for Lesson 77

  1. Babylon symbolizes a religious system that groups together all the apostate churches. The book of Revelation chapter 17 describes this system as follows, «And on her forehead was a name written, “Mystery, Babylon the great, the mother of and of the earth.” (...) The woman which you saw is that great city, which over the kings of the earth.» So, in the last days, this system will receive full authority over all the nations.

  2. The name «Babylon» comes from the name «Babel». Now, what does this word mean in Babylonian language?
    «Confusion.»
    «Great Tower.»
    «Gate of the gods.»
    «Union against God.»

  3. God was exceedingly patient towards Babylon, incessantly calling this apostate religious system to come back to Him, to rediscover His will and obey it. In fact, one of the letters to the seven churches, in the book of Revelation, contains such a call to repentance, addressed to spiritual Babylon during its reign in the Middle Ages. Which letter is it?
The letter to the church of Pergamos.
The letter to the church of Thyatira.
The letter to the church of Sardis.
The letter to the church of Laodicea.

  4. Many reasons lead God to pronounce such a severe judgment against Babylon, and to cause her fall. The main reason is that Babylon let herself be overrun with pride, and that this pride led her to share the very same mad ambition as that of Satan. According to the book of Isaiah, what is that ambition?
    To become extremely rich.
To have great authority over the nations.
To destroy all the copies of the Bible.
To take the place of God Himself.

  5. According to Revelation chapter 18, another reason for the fall of Babylon is that she «is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit.» Indeed, this apostate religious system teaches many false doctrines, one of which leaves the door wide open to all the deceiving wonders of spiritualism, the favorite weapon of Satan. What is this false doctrine?
    Transubstantiation.
    Infallibility of the pope.
    Immortality of the soul.
    Salvation by works.

  6. Nowadays, Babylon is made up of a multitude of religions and movements which adopted as their credo the lies of Satan, the ancient serpent. The book of Genesis reports Satan’s two older lies, through which, still today, he efficiently deceive the inhabitants of the earth: «You shall not surely and «You shall be as

  7. Babylon is also found guilty of having severely persecuted the people of God. In the last days, according to Revelation chapter 17, this worldwide coalition, grouping together political and religious powers, will once again attempt to destroy the faithful believers. But prophecy gives us good news, «These shall make with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings.»

  8. According to the book of Revelation, Babylon the great whore will be destroyed and burned with fire following the attack of...
    ... God’s people.
... the nations of the earth.
    ... Jesus and His angels.
    ... Satan and his angels.

  9. When we read the book of Revelation, what do we learn about the length and intensity of God’s judgment against Babylon the great whore?
This judgment will be a slow process that will last 1000 years.
This judgment will be progressive, and will last about one century.
This judgment will be progressive, and will last a few years.
This judgment will be sudden, and completed in a very short time.

  10. In the book of Jeremiah, God takes note of the sad spiritual condition of Babylon: «My people have been sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go , they have turned them away on the mountains. (...) out of the middle of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he-goats the flocks.» So it is now up to each one of us to accept God’s holy mission, and to proclaim the final call to salvation before the return of our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
