The Power of the Holy Spirit

In order to check your understanding and your progress in the study of the Word of God, we invite you to fill out this short test and return it to us. The correct answers will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

A mark of 70% or better will allow you to submit the test of Lesson 12. Upon the completion of the entire Bible course The Moment of Truth, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

The Moment of Truth: Test for Lesson 11

  1. The study of the Bible shows that God communicates with us at three different levels which are:
    - The Father, in the creation, who is God us.
    - The Son, in the redemption, who is God us.
    - The Holy Spirit, in the sanctification, who is God us.

  2. The Word of God presents the Holy Spirit as being:
a power emanating from God, without any traits of personality.
a person, a being who has emotions and a will.

  3. Among the following statements about the Holy Spirit, check off all those that are true:
He has an intelligence: He can testify, foretell, and teach.
He has emotions: He can love, comfort, help, and intercede.
He has a will: He can prevent, convict, and act as He wants.
It is possible to grieve Him, lie to Him, and speak against Him.

  4. The book of Exodus tells us about the Holy Spirit performing a special work for Bezaleel, a servant of God. The Bible reports God’s words as follows: «I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in , in , in , and in all manner of , to devise cunning works.»

  5. According to the Acts of the Apostles, how did Jesus’ disciples prepare themselves, before the Pentecost, to receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?
    By praying together.
    By performing miracles.
By attending to their everyday tasks.
By discovering the hidden power within themselves.

  6. The Gospel according to John describes the Holy Spirit’s role in our conversion: «He will reprove the world of , and of , and of The Spirit thus makes us realize our hopeless condition as sinners, and our need of a Savior.

  7. The First Epistle of Paul to the Corinthians teaches that the role of the Holy Spirit continues throughout our Christian life. Indeed, it is written: «But you are , but you are , but you are in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.»

  8. The Holy Spirit can bring about a radical transformation in our hearts. Which one of the Epistles of Paul illustrates this transformation by contrasting «the works of the flesh» and «the fruit of the Spirit»?
The First Epistle to the Thessalonians.
    The Epistle to the Colossians.
    The Epistle to the Romans.
    The Epistle to the Galatians.

  9. What is the sin against the Holy Spirit, which is, according to the Bible, unpardonable? It is an attitude of rejection of the Holy Spirit’s call to repentance.  A sinner who unceasingly rejects the call of the Spirit ends up his heart. Then, since God always respects our freedom of , there is no other way for God to save the one who refuses this salvation.

  10. In the Gospel according to Luke, Jesus Himself indicates what we must do in order to be filled with the Holy Spirit:
We must simply ask God to give us His Spirit.
We must mortify ourselves and make sacrifices.
    We must give generous offerings.
We must be in harmony with the Universe.
