The Moment of Truth - Test 20

The Seventy Weeks

In order to check your understanding and your progress in the study of the Word of God, we invite you to fill out this short test and return it to us. The correct answers will be sent back to you as soon as possible.

A mark of 70% or better will allow you to submit the test of Lesson 21. Upon the completion of the entire Bible course The Moment of Truth, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

The Moment of Truth: Test for Lesson 20

  1. Studying the prophecy of Jeremiah, Daniel saw that his people would be slaves in Babylon for 70 years only. When these 70 years were over, the kingdom of Babylon fell, just as foretold. But Daniel was waiting for a second event which was still delayed. What was that event?
The fall of the Medo-Persian kingdom.
    The reconstruction of Jerusalem.
    The complete destruction of Babylon.
    The coming of the Messiah.

  2. The angel Gabriel gave Daniel the 70 weeks prophecy, saying, «Seventy weeks are determined on your and on your holy The angel also indicated the starting point of this prophecy, «From the going forth of the commandment to and to build (...).»

  3. The event marking the beginning of the 70 weeks prophetic period took place in the seventh year of the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, as described in the book of Ezra. What was the year?
    606 B.C.
    537 B.C.
    457 B.C.
    408 B.C.

  4. The book of Ezekiel gives us an important principle of equivalence which is recognized and applied by most Bible prophecy students: «For I have laid on you the of their iniquity, according to the number of the . (...) I have appointed you each for a This principle of equivalence will enable us to understand the Bible’s prophetic periods, among which is the 70 weeks period.

  5. When we add up 483 years (the 69 first weeks) to the year 457 B.C., we arrive at the year A.D. 27.  Yet, the mathematical calculation is: - 457 + 483 = 26. So, why do we arrive at A.D. 27, instead of A.D. 26?
    Because Bible prophecy is inacurrate.
    Because we twist the Scriptures.
Because the beginning of the Christian Era was miscalculated.
Because there is no year «0» (zero).

  6. The Gospel according to Mark describes the event which marked the end of the first 69 prophetic weeks, in A.D. 27: «It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was of John in . (...) Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is .”» These words from Jesus show that He knew that this event was an important milestone of the 70 weeks prophecy.

  7. The angel Gabriel says that during the last of the 70 weeks, «Messiah shall be cut off.» And Gabriel adds, «In the middle of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease.» Which event perfectly fulfilled this prophecy?
    The baptism of Jesus Christ.
The murder of John the Baptist.
The death of Jesus on the cross.
    The destruction of Jerusalem’s temple.

  8. When the prophecy «In the middle of the week He shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease» was fulfilled, a miraculous sign took place, marking the end of the temple’s service. What was that sign?
The sudden death of the High Priest.
The complete destruction of the temple.
A remarkable display of falling stars.
The tearing in two of the temple’s veil.

  9. With the stoning of Stephen in A.D 34, the Jewish nation conclusively rejected the gospel, putting an end to their 490 years of probation. In the Acts of the Apostles, Paul declared to the Jews, «It was necessary that the word of God should have been spoken to you: but seeing you put it you, and judge yourselves of everlasting life, see, we turn to the

  10. The prophetic message of Daniel chapter 9 ends tragically: «The people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. (...) For the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured on the desolate.» Which event perfectly fulfilled this prophecy?
The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by the Romans.
The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by the Babylonians.
The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by the Barbarians.
The destruction of Jerusalem and its temple by the Assyrians.
