To those who claim that the Sabbath has been given only for the Jews, God answers, in the book of Isaiah , «Also the sons of the , that join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, that keeps the from polluting it, and takes hold of My covenant; even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all .»
The book of the prophet Ezekiel tells us that God has also another goal by giving us the seventh day, the Sabbath, as the day of rest: «Hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that...»

The book of Leviticus explains how we must keep the Sabbath: «From to , shall you celebrate your Sabbath.» Thus, the Sabbath begins at sunset on Friday night and ends at sunset on Saturday night.
God wants us to put aside our everyday work and the cares of this life on the Sabbath. However, this doesn’t mean that we should sleep all day long. Indeed, in the Gospel according to Matthew , Jesus says, «It is lawful to do on the days.»
In the book of the prophet Isaiah , God gives us this wonderful promise: «If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a , the holy of the Lord, honorable; and shall honor Him, not doing your own , nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own : then shall you delight yourself in the Lord.
